Volunteers

The Hopkinton Area Land Trust invites you to join our dedicated team of volunteers. Volunteers play a vital role as ambassadors for the Land Trust. Volunteers help us construct and maintain trails, remove invasive species, plant trees and restore properties, ensure that our events come off without a hitch, and help in critical office work. The skills and enthusiasm of our volunteers are vital to our efforts to conserve our region’s lands and waters. We could not do our work without you!

HALT’s greatest need for volunteers is land stewards: individuals who agree to monitor one or more properties on a periodic basis (e.g., once or twice a year) and document their findings.  This monitoring involves walking the borders to insure there are no encroachments by neighboring construction or dumping, reporting on conditions of trails and any maintenance required, reporting any other activities that are inconsistent with the protection of the land.  Many stewards also walk our trails regularly and perform minor trail maintenance such as trimming and moving fallen branches.  If you live near any one of our properties, you can do the job of a steward just by a short walk from your house.
