Within the last year, the Trust acquired the 16-acre Peloquin Estates parcel on Front St., surrounding the development on Cobblers Way. This land abuts Legacy Farms open space and contains several existing trails that connect to Legacy Farms trail network. It potentially provides access to those trails from Front St., although no through trail has yet been developed. This wooded parcel contains thousands of feet of stone walls, remnants of stone cellars, a couple of streams, wetlands and dry, open forest. An interesting water channel, probably once used for irrigation, defines one border of the property.
The Trust also acquired the 6-acre Cheney parcel at 22 School St. and an Eagle Scout project is in the works to develop a trail there. This parcel has an interesting pair of year-round ponds in the front section and dry forest in the rear.
