“But it’s dry heat”

It has been unusually hot the first half of August, and unusually dry all summer, but unfortunately our heat hasn’t been dry. Humidity has been plenty, often with a heat index near 100°. But it’s a great time to hike! Dry woods and trails mean the bugs are down and mud is nonexistent. If you’re adventurous, you can bushwhack into the backcountry and get close to flora and fauna of wetlands that are normally impassable. Rocky stream beds are visible, and you can walk right across them with impunity. Your yard may not be happy, but the woods live on.
